In 1964, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Physics and Technology of the Dnipro National University named after O. Honchara. Candidate of technical sciences on a special topic. Doctor of technical sciences, professor.
From 1975 to 1976, he was a visiting researcher at the Delft University of Technology (Netherlands). 1976-1985 - scientific leader of the research laboratory of the mechanics of heterogeneous and anisotropic environments, the problem research laboratory of strength and reliability of structures, dean of the mechanics and mathematics faculty of the Dnipropetrovsk National University. From 1985 to 1986, he was an invited scientist under the IREX program at the University of North Texas (Denton, USA). From 1986 to 1992, he organized and headed the Faculty of Applied Mathematics. In 1988, he defended his doctoral thesis on the topic "Stability and oscillations of thin-walled structures of variable stiffness"; Professor of the Department of Applied Theory of Elasticity since 1990. In 1991-1992, under the Fulbright program, he gave lectures and conducted research in the USA (Stanford University, California).
For 21 years, from 1993 to 2014, he was vice-rector for scientific work and international cooperation of the Zaporizhia National University. In 1994, he organized and headed the Department of Mathematical Modeling and Information Technologies; from 2001 to the following time - the head of the department of applied mathematics and mechanics.
In 1995, he was an invited consultant to the International Association for Accident and Disaster Analysis, Menlo Park, California, USA. In the period from 1995 to 2000, he was a visiting professor at the Institute of Technological Problems of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Warsaw, 1996), Stanford University, USA (1998, 1999, 2000); associate editor of the international magazine "Applied Mechanics Reviews"; member of the Research Council of the American Biographical Institute; included in the collection "Who's Who in the World", 13th edition, Marcus Publishing House, USA, 1996. Member of the Bureau of the Presidium of the Ukrainian Society of Mechanical Engineers, member of the Academic Union for Science and Education in Eastern Europe. In 1993, he was elected an academician and a member of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine, Department "Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering".
Awarded with honorary diplomas of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and medals "For scientific achievements" of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine, "Yaroslav the Wise" and "Saint Volodymyr" by the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine, "For merit" by the Dnipropetrovsk National University named after O. Honchara, the National Technical University "Dniprovska Polytechnic", the Dnipro "State Academy of Construction and Architecture", the Badge "For the Creation of Rocket and Space Technology", honorary medals of the State Design Bureau "South M.K. Yangel", honorary diplomas of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Land of Saxony - Anhalt (Germany). In 2015, he was elected Honorary Professor of the Zaporizhia National University "Zaporizhia Polytechnic".
For significant achievements in the field of science and technology, by the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated October 2, 2004, he was awarded the title "Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine", awarded with the Certificate of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (N 389-K dated 30.06.2017).
He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine in the field of Mechanics and an expert of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine for evaluating the effectiveness of higher education institutions in terms of their scientific (scientific and technical) activities in the field of Technical Sciences (Order of the Ministry of Education and Culture No. 1111 dated 07.09. 2020). |
